Let's talk, even if you have just one tax question. You tell us about your family's plans, and we explain how we would approach the taxes that come with them.
Tax
We plan your family's taxes alongside the other big decisions about your money.
When families come to us for tax planning services, we start with what they are likely to owe over the next 3 to 5 years. Those numbers then guide our planning for your estate, the sale of a business or a large block of company stock, and your giving. We work directly with your own CPA and attorney, and your CPA continues to prepare your returns.
The Services in Tax
The first two services cover your overall tax plan, and the rest each focus on one part of it.
- Tax Strategies We plan the tax side of your investments, and several times a year we run scenarios to time steps such as selling a business.
- Tax Plan Reporting Your CPA receives organized digital records from us in place of a stack of 1099s, plus a written tax plan to work from.
- Estate & Tax Planning We help you choose what to give your family, often assets likely to grow, with the aim of keeping that growth outside your taxable estate.
- Annual Foundation Reporting Your foundation's federal return reports grants and tax on investment income; a foundation tax advisor should guide your decisions, and we help with the return.
- Philanthropic Planning We can combine several years of giving into one tax year through a donor-advised fund, which holds your gift until you recommend grants to charities.
- Planning for Wealth Transfer We time gifts over decades and plan trusts qualifying for an exemption, meant to provide for children and grandchildren without estate tax at each generation.
- Rule 144 & Concentrated Stock Strategies If much of what you own is in one company's stock, we schedule sales around your taxes and any rules on when you may sell.
